What are Dentures?

Dentures are used to replace missing teeth with prosthetic devices that are held in place with clasps attached to your natural teeth. They can be fixed or removable and may be made of acrylic plastic, metal, or a combination of the two materials. Choice Dental offers both partial and complete dentures which provide service for patients with an entire set.

A few benefits of dentures:

  • Help you eat better
  • Better your speech
  • Improve your self-esteem and confidence

With the addition of partial or full dentures, you’ll be able to chew your favorite foods again and easier time speaking clearly. Since dentures improve your appearance, you’ll likely feel like smiling more and speaking with confidence.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures replace one arch (upper jaw or lower) while still having natural teeth positioned between gaps. The partial denture fits over the adjacent teeth by clasps that are attached to your remaining natural teeth. There are no gums around the fake tooth because it’s held in place by the clasp on the natural tooth. Full, highly secure but doesn’t feel as natural compared to a complete set of dentures.

Complete Dentures

Complete dentures consist of a removable appliance that replaces all your missing teeth. It contains pink acrylic pieces with synthetic teeth attached to it. There are no gaps between the fake tooth because they are one-piece therefore more comfortable compared to partial dentures but may slip out from time to time, therefore, require occasional adjustments by your dentist.  In cases where the slipping is too severe and frequent, implant overdentures are a great solution.

Implant Overdentures

Implant Overdentures consist of a removable appliance that replaces all your missing teeth, and they are secured tightly to implants that have been installed into your jawbone. The implant overdenture contains pink acrylic pieces with synthetic teeth attached to it, in addition to specialised receivers that clip on to the specialised attachments connected to the implants. There are no gaps between the fake tooth because they are one-piece therefore more comfortable compared to partial dentures, and also because the appliance is secured to the implants, they dont move around as much as complete dentures when talking, eating and laughing.  As such, implant overdentures gives you a much superior denture experience compared to traditional complete dentures.
